Presentation at UMSS

On July 19th, Mateo Moreno gave an online talk highlighting the data-driven analyses in the frame of the PROSLIDE project. The presentation was part of a research stay at the Laboratorio de Hidráulica in Universidad Mayor de San Simón (UMSS), Cochabamba, Bolivia. PROSLIDE final webinar

On the past 29th of June, we hosted the PROSLIDE webinar. During the event, we provided an overview of the project and presented the main results, along with methodical details, room for discussion, and potential future perspectives.

The webinar was carried out in three blocks of presentations divided into the general aspects of the project, the regional scale analyses, and the catchment-scale analyses. The event was closed with a discussion on future improvements, plans, and potential developments on the project topics.

We thank all our attendees for the very interesting contributions and lively discussions.

PROSLIDE INformA seminar

On the 26th of June, we presented the PROSLIDE project as part of the INformA seminar series. During this online seminar, we presented the main results and applications of both the regional scale data-driven and the catchment scale physically-based analyses. Moreover, we provided room for questions, discussions, and potential future perspectives.

The INformA seminars are oriented to stakeholders with participants, for instance, from environmental agencies of South Tyrol, the Civil Protection Office of South Tyrol, and the Office for Geology and Building Material Testing, among others.

We thank all our attendees for their attendance and very interesting contributions.

 

GeoHazards Connections

On May 12th, Mateo Moreno gave a presentation on findings in the data-driven analyses for the PROSLIDE project. The talk was part of the online conference GeoHazards Connections (Connexions géorisque), which is an initiative of the Geohazards Committee of the Canadian Geotechnical Society (Comité sur les géorisques de la Société canadienne de géotechnique).

Since its inception in 2021, GeoHazards Connections is a recurring online conference that aims to connect graduate students to each other and to practitioners.  While only graduate students may present, members of academia, industry, and government are all invited to attend and participate in the Q&A discussions following each presentation (see more here).

EGU2023

As announced before, last week we had the chance to participate in  European Geosciences Union (EGU) General Assembly 2023 and share with the scientific community our findings within the PROSLIDE project. We received positive feedback, and hold interesting discussions on the project.

In summary, Mateo Moreno and Lotte de Vugt gave two oral presentations in session NH3.6 – Space and time forecasting of landslides. The presentations were entitled  Functional regression for space-time prediction of precipitation-induced shallow landslides in South Tyrol, Italy (abstract here) and Improving the performance of a dynamic slope stability model (TRIGRS) with integrated spatio-temporal precipitation data (abstract here).

Stefan Steger gave an oral presentation on A data-driven approach to derive spatially explicit dynamic “thresholds” for shallow landslide occurrence in South Tyrol (abstract here) as part of the session Towards reliable landslide early warning systems.

Presentation at BioSP – INRAE

On March 20th, Mateo Moreno gave a talk on findings in the data-driven analyses for the PROSLIDE project. The presentation was part of a series of seminars at the Biostatistics and Spatial Processes (BioSP) unit at the National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and the Environment (INRAE).

 

Research visit BioSP – INRAE

In the week of March 20th, Mateo Moreno visited the Biostatistics and Spatial Processes (BioSP) unit at the National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and the Environment (INRAE), Avignon, France.  The research visit covered the ongoing analysis regarding dynamic landslide modeling with daily precipitation estimates using functional regression approaches.

ITC talk

On November 15th, Mateo Moreno gave an overview of some of the research findings within the PROSLIDE project. The presentation was entitled Space-time modeling of precipitation-induced shallow landslides in South Tyrol, Italy and it was presented during a series of seminars at the Faculty of Geo-information Science and Earth Observation (ITC),  University of Twente.
