The International Snow Science Workshop (ISSW) 2016 took place in Breckenridge, Colorado, USA, from 3.-7. October. The ISSW is the world’s marquee conference for snow and avalanche professionals. It aims to connect expert researchers and practitioners in the field of avalanche and snow science to merge theory and practice. Preliminary results of the pluSnow project were presented on a poster and new contacts were made to colleagues for sharing knowledge on fresh snow densities.

On 25. August the objective of the pluSnow project and first results were presented to a highly interested audience at the Swiss Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research (SLF). Since already the project proposal was recommended by Prof. Dr. Michael Lehning, a close cooperation was agreed to investigate the contribution of the settling of fresh snow to snow depth changes in more detail.
The successfull first poster presentation of the project pluSnow at the EGU 2016 General Assembly resulted in a large audience and new contacts for scientific networking.
