Final field work 2019

Final field work 2019

Winter is getting closer and almost base flow conditions can be assumed. In general, a low water level is required to survey the cross section of the channel at runoff gauges. However, like observed in many other Alpine catchments this year, discharge remained relatively high in contrast to average fall conditions. Nevertheless we used one of the last snow-free days in the Jamtal catchment to make a photogrammetric survey of the entire channel section next to our discharge radar. In addition we performed two more discharge measurements for calibration using the salt dilution method, and read the data of the two water level sensors upstream. Finally we dismounted the RQ30 device for the time of winter season with respect to the risk of avalanche activity in this area.
