The Institute for Interdisciplinary Mountain Research (IGF) at its headquarters in Innsbruck focuses on inter- and transdisciplinary mountain research (montology) in cooperation with international groups of scientists. It also includes GLORIA, the long-term global monitoring network in alpine areas. The institute is part of the Social Sciences Research Centre at the Austrian Academy of Sciences and maintains a cooperation with the Mountain Research Initiative, Bern.
